Prime Lamb & Sheep

Total Yarding: 12,441

There was a lift in numbers and the quality was a little plainer with not as many prime lambs offered. The majority were lambs lacking cover or store lambs. Trade were reasonable supplied and heavy weights limited. The market sold on quality with most lambs similar in value to the previous week.

Most restocking lambs sold from $30 to $100/head. Medium and heavy trades had a big spread in prices with condition the driver and prices ranged from $103 to $148/head. the better lambs were averaging from 630c to 650c with secondary lambs mainly 460c to 520c/kg cwt. Heavy weights to 26kg ranged from $146 to $158 and the 26 to 30kg lambs $164 to $183 and extra heavy lambs reached $213/head. The best of the heavy hoggets sold from $139 to $149/head.

Mutton numbers lifted and the quality was mixed as more light 1 and 2 score sheep entered the yards. Light and medium weights were slightly dearer while heavy weights were upto $8/head stronger. Medium weight ewes sold from $78 to $115 and heavy crossbred ewes $133 to $157/head. Best of the long skinned heavy Merinos reached $134 for the ewes and $148/head for wethers.
