Prime Sheep & Lamb - 17 July 2024

Total Yarding: 9600 (-3465) | Sheep Yarding: 3300 (-2665) | Lamb Yarding: 6300 (-800)

Lamb numbers eased and the quality was plainer with only a limited number of prime lambs and plenty of lambs that lack cover. The best quality lambs were the heavy and extra heavy weights with the trade and light lambs very mixed in quality and condition. The market sold to a mostly stronger trend.

The 2 score processing lambs sold from $62 to $116/head and the light trades to 20kg $126 to $166/head to average 750c/kg. The trade lambs 20 to 24kg sold from $154 to $214/head and averaged 790c to 820c/kg with the very neat lambs ranging from 840c to 880c/kg. Heavy lambs were $3 dearer selling between $201 and $236/head. Heavy lambs to 30kg sold from $200 to $243 and extra heavy weights reached $289/head and averaged 840c/kg. The best priced hogget reached $183/head.

Mutton numbers eased and the quality was very mixed but prices lifted $6 to $9 across the medium and heavy mutton. Medium weight ewes sold from$75 to $122 and heavy crossbreds $133 to $174/head. Best of the Merinos reached $139/head and most of the better mutton averaged 470c to 500c/kg cwt.
