Market Report – 12 April 2019

Total Yarding: 5,844

The largest weaner sale held at SELX saw a mixed quality offering penned. Light weights were well supplied showing the effects of the season, but there were plenty of weaners with cover and weight. Angus weaners made up the bulk of the yarding that sold to a cheaper trend of $100 to $140/head.

Weaner steers to 200kg in weight sold from $230 to $510/head. Medium weights weighing 200-280kg made from $390 to $885 and heavier weights sold from $665 to a top of $1,045/head. Angus steers averaged approximately 270c and other breeds 240c to 260c/kg. Medium weight heifers that were best supplied sold from $300 to $655 and heavier weights made from $555 to $670/head. Most varied from 170c to 220c/kg lwt.
