Lamb numbers lifted and the quality was mixed but contained a very good run of heavy and extra heavy lambs. Store lambs were not as well supplied and most of the lambs were lacking finish. The market sold to a firm to dearer trend.
Store lambs were $13 dearer selling from $140 to $183/head. The 2 score processing lambs to 16kg were $8 dearer, making from $136 to $158/head. Medium and heavy trade lambs were $2 to $4 dearer selling from $167 to $211/head. Heavy lambs sold from $206 to $235/head. Carcase prices averaged from 880c to 910c/kg cwt. Extra heavy lambs were back $6 selling from $234 to $266/head. Heavy Merino lambs reached $214/head. The best of the heavy hoggets sold to $233/head.
Mutton numbers were similar. Light and medium weight sheep sold $5 to $6/head dearer. Heavy weights were $12/head stronger. Medium weight ewes made from $120 to $175/head. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $233 to $249 and Merinos reached $200/head averaging around 660c/kg cwt.
