Market Report – 28 April

Numbers were less than the anticipated draw with quite a few weaners pulled from the sale to be put in Mays weaner store sale. There were still around 600 good quality weaners penned and they sold to similar values to the previous store market.

Light weaner steers ranged from $700 to $840/head. Medium weights $830 to $1,160 and heavy weaners reached $1,300/head. Medium and heavy weights averaged 380c to 420c/kg lwt. Light heifers sold very strongly selling from $700 to $780/head. The better supplied medium weights $770 to $1,060 and heavy weights reached $1,120/head. Most averaged very close to 360c/kg lwt. Heavy Charolais steers topped the yearling section reaching $1,430 and the heifers made to $1,300/head.

PTIC heifers sold from $1,375 to $1,625 and the PTIC cows $1,000 to $1,450/head. The only pen of cow and calf units were Herefords with their first calf at foot and they sold to $2,560/unit.
