Market Report – 28 July 2022

Prime Cattle

Total Yarding: 300

Cattle numbers fell and the quality remains plain. Yearlings were best supplied along with a small run of weaners. Grown steers and heifers were in limited numbers and there were 85 mixed quality cows. Not all the usual buyers attended the market and restocking orders were strong purchasing most of the yearlings and weaners. The market sold to a cheaper trend with the very plain and light cattle struggling to attract much attention.

Weaner steers back to the paddock ranged from 330c to 480c/kg and heifers 303c to 432c/kg. Restocking orders purchased most of the yearling steers and sold from 330c for crossbred steers to 490c/kg and medium weight heifers 320c to 420c/kg. The best of the heavy trade steers reached 380c/kg.

2 and 4 tooth to feed on sold from 380c to 440c/kg and heavy grown heifers to process reached 380c/kg. Cows only eased 2c to 3c with the medium weight 2 score cows 220c to 265c and heavy 3 and 4 score cows 270c to 300c/kg.
