Prime Lamb & Sheep
Total Yarding: 5969
Lamb numbers lifted and the quality was a little better but there were still plenty of lambs that lack the cover desired by most processors. Trade lambs made up the majority of the lambs and there were a few good runs of heavy and extra heavy weights. There was a larger buying group in action and the market lifted $30 to $40/head after last weeks big falls.
Medium and heavy trade lambs to 22kg cwt sold from $138 to $161/head and the 22 to 24kg 4 score lambs $179 to $197/head and averaged from 700c to 760c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs 24 to 26kg sold from $175 to $202/head or 730c/kg cwt and lambs 26 to 30kg $184 to $204/head. Extra heavy lambs reached $219/head. Best priced hogget reached $164/head.
Mutton numbers eased and the quality remains mixed. Prices lifted $15 to $20/head. Medium weight ewes sold from $95 to $144/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $185 to $191 and Merino reached $175/head.
