Market Report – 3 November 2021

Total Yarding: 17,280

Numbers were similar to last week with 10,000 new season lambs penned. The quality was mixed with a large run of store lambs coming into the market, and some lambs lacking the freshness desired by some buyers. Stores and trade lambs were best supplied and there were reasonable numbers of heavy lambs. Extra heavy weights remain limited. Old lambs were in short supply and there still remains limited numbers of shorn lambs. The market sold to a cheaper trend.

New season store lambs sold from $125 to $184/head. Trade weights to 24kg cwt were $8 to $11 cheaper $175 to $214/head averaging 790c to 810c/kg cwt. The 24 to 26kg $198 to $215/head or 780c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs to 30kg $223 to $243/head.

Old trades were $8 cheaper selling from $156 to $197/head. Heavy lambs $207 to $251/head. Merino trades $156 to $177/head.

Mutton numbers were also similar and quality fair. Medium and heavy sheep were best supplied and prices fell $15 to $20/head. Medium weight ewes $110 to $158/head. Heavy crossbreds $169 to $196 and Merino ewes reached $181/head. Wethers topped at $218/head. Young crossbred ewes to restock $285/head.
