Prime Cattle

Total Yarding:  645

The market opened strongly, with the cows and heavy grown steers over 40c dearer, in a slightly increased yarding of 654 plain to very good quality cattle. Heavy cattle and cows made up the bulk of the offering, along with a few good runs of feeder heifers and a few well-bred pens of young cattle.

Trade yearlings were dearer, with the steers selling from 280c to 378c, and the heifers making from 275c to 349c/kg. Medium weight feeders were mostly firm, ranging from 280c to 355c, and the heifer portion was dearer, topping at 310c, to average 295c/kg. There was keen interest for well-bred weaner steers, reaching 387c/kg, however the plainer types were harder to sell. Young heifers followed similar trends, making from 141c to 305c/kg.

Heavy grown steers were considerably dearer, selling from 280c to 370c, and heavy heifers were price unchanged, topping at 350c, to average 285c/kg.

The cow market was super strong, gaining momentum as the sale progressed, with the heavy 3 and 4 scores selling from 244c to 310c/kg. Heavy weight bulls to process sold from 200c to 245c/kg.
