Prime Lamb & Sheep

Lamb numbers lifted but the quality fell with a lot of 1 and 2 score lambs penned. There were several big runs of light Merinos and there was a few new season lambs but most were light and returned to the paddock. There was only a limited supply of good trade and heavy weights. The light 1 and 2 score lambs were firm and the better trades were firm to $5 softer.
New season lambs back to the paddock sold from $94 to $164 and the only pen to process reached $165/head and averaged 880c/kg. Light Merinos sold from $15 to $78/head and the few 2 score processing lambs $94 to $133/head. Secondary trade lambs ranged from $148 to $167/head and averaged 730c/kg while the better drafts $171 to $206/head or 820c/kg. Heavy lambs sold from $190 to $247/head to range from 800c to 850c/kg. The best price for a hogget reached $148/head.
Mutton numbers had a slight rise and the quality was mixed. Lighter mutton was firm to slightly cheaper while the better covered medium and heavy weights were mostly $3 to $5 stronger. Merino ewes reached $129 and heavy crossbred wethers $160/head.
