Market Report – 6 June

Total Yarding: 15,960

Lamb numbers declined and the quality was mixed. There was a limited supply of well finished trade and heavy lambs and the bulk of the lambs were lacking cover weight and finish. There was a good run of Merino lambs again most were lighter weights.

Light 2 score processing lambs were firm and sold from $80 to $119/head. Restocking lambs sold from $35 to $115/head. Medium and heavy trade weights $2 to $3 cheaper on average but the better end held firm and sold from $117 to $148/head. Heavy lambs were $7 to $8 cheaper with quality a majority factor and sold between $142 and $164/head. Extra heavy lambs reached $182/head. Carcase prices averaged 570c to 620c/kg cwt. Light Merino trades sold to $120/head. Hoggets reached $168/head.

Mutton numbers remained similar for a mixed quality offering with Merinos well supplied along with a few pens of heavy crossbred ewes. Prices were $2 to $3 cheaper on the lighter weights and sold from $69 to $114/head. The better covered heavy weights were firm reaching $170/head. Merino wethers sold to $155.20/head.
