Prime Lamb & Sheep

Total Yarding: 11,510

Lamb numbers were steady and the quality remains mixed although there were more prime trade and heavy lambs coming through. There still were plenty of light 1 and 2 score lambs in the market. An extra buyer operated on the light lambs and some secondary trades. The market sold to similar trend on the secondary lambs and lifted $3 to $4/head on the better lambs.

Restocking lambs to 20kg sold from $43 to $115/head and 2 score lambs to process $46 to $92/head. medium and heavy trade weights ranged from $104 to $145/head and heavy lambs 24 to 26/kg sold from $145 to $157/head, heavier weights reached $181/head. Carcase prices sold on average between 560c and 620c/kg on the better lambs and 450c to 550c/kg on the secondary lambs. Best of the heavy hoggets reached $137/head.

Mutton numbers eased and the quality was mixed with more light 1 score ewes and a heavier run of crossbreds. Light sheep were firm and the heavy weights sold $10/head dearer. Light 1 score ewes $38 to $42/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $110 to $141 and heavy Merinos $115 to $127/head.
