Market Report – 12 May 2023

Special Weaner Sale

Total Yarding: 4544

Numbers were back for the May weaner sale but the quality was good. There were big lines of Angus steers and heifers with most of the cattle weighing above 260kg. Despite the quality and large buying group the market eased with steers falling $150 to $180/head on average and heifers $250/head.

Light weaner steers under 200kg sold from $520 to $890/head. Medium weights 200 to 280kg started at $610 for plain D muscle to $1380 for a large draft of Angus steers. Heavy weights $920 to heavy Angus steers over 400kg reaching $1635/head. Most averaged 400c to 440c/kg.

Light heifers $360 to $590/head and the medium weights mostly $550 to $870/head. The heavy weights over 280kg started from $770 and finished with a wonderful draft of Angus heifers weighing 320kg that reached $1220/head. Most of the heifers sold from 270c to 320c/kg with the very best sale reaching 380c/kg.
