Prime Lamb & Sheep

Total Yarding: 9,505

Lamb numbers eased slightly and there were around 1800 new season lambs penned. The quality was better with the new season lambs showing freshness and most were trade or heavy weights. Old lambs were mostly heavy with limited numbers of trade and light weights. The market sold to much stronger trend lifting $15 to $25/head on average.

New season trade lambs 20 to 2kg sold from $104 to $122 and the heavy trades $113 to $125/head. Heavy weights $121 to a top of $143/head. Most sold in a ranged from 490c to 530c/kg cwt.

Old 2 score processing lambs were up $15 selling between $32 and $56/head. Medium and heavy old trade lambs ranged from $86 to $120/head before averaging 440c/kg, heavy weights sold from $101 to $134/head. Hoggets jumped $30 reaching $97/head.

Mutton numbers lifted and the quality was mixed but fewer 1 and 2 scores in the mix. Prices lifted $15 to $20/head across all grades. Medium weight ewes $39 to $54 and heavy crossbred ewes $48 to $69/head. Heavy Merino wethers reached $84/head.
