Prime Lamb & Sheep

Total Yarding: 13,699

Lamb numbers lifted and the quality was a little better. There still was a good mix of weights and condition through the yarding with light and trade lambs making up the majority of the offering. Heavy lambs were limited. All the usual buyers were operating in a firm to dearer market.

The 2 score processing lambs were firm with buyers buying more light and plainer stock, usually restocking lambs. Prices ranged from $58 to $118/head. The trade lambs were $3 to $5 dearer and ranged from $124 to $160/head for lambs 20 to 24kg and averaged around 610c/kg cwt. Lambs estimated 24 to 26kg sold from $146 to $175/head and gained $2 on average or 620c/kg cwt. Heavy weights gained $7 selling from $161 to $180 and extra heavy weights reached $185/head. Heavy hoggets jumped $12 and reached $138/head.

Mutton numbers lifted and the quality was again mixed but competition was stronger lifting the light and heavy mutton $10/head, medium weights were firm. Medium weight ewes sold from $50 to $64/head to 18kg and heavy crossbred ewes sold between $105 and $138/head. Merino wethers reached $135/head. Most averaged from 360c to 390c/kg cwt.
