Prime Sheep and Lamb

Lamb numbers eased and the quality was again plain with a vert wintery yarding. There were plenty of 1 and 2 score light lambs on offer and only a limited number of prime trade and heavy weights. There were a couple of pens of very heavy new season lambs and several big lines of shorn Merino hoggets. The market sold to stronger trends on the lighter weights and lifted $5 to $10 while the few prime trade and heavy weights were firm to $4 stronger.

 

The new season lambs sold from $220 to $235/head. The light 2 score lambs to 18kg sold from $76 to $140/head. the trade weights labs to 24kg ranged from $128 to $196/head with most averaging between 760c and 810c/kg. Heavy weights sold to $219/head. Merino trades ranged from $154 to $166/head or 660c to 720c/kg. The light 1 score hoggets sold from $24 to $56/head.

 

Mutton numbers eased and the quality was very mixed. Prices were stronger on the light weights and firm to $4 cheaper on the heavy mutton. Light ewes sold from $30 to $66 and heavy crossbred ewes $96 to $141/head. Merinos reached $146/head and the better end averaged from 350c to 380c/kg.
