SELX Monthly Store Cattle

Total Yarding: 1385 (+701)

Numbers almost doubled and the quality was a little plainer with a wintery looking yarding. There were good numbers of weaner steers and heifers with the bulk around 11 to 12 months of age and a few yearlings slightly older. Around 120 cow and calf units were offered, and the market trend was softer with the cattle slightly older and the majority with less condition. The younger weaners sold to similar rates.

Light weaner steers under 200kg reached $860/head and medium weights sold between $500 and $1140/head with most ranging from 350c to 380c and the weaners around 6 to 7 month 415c to 427c/kg. Heavy weaners reached $1300/head. Medium weight heifers sold from $440 to $810/head averaging 270c with the younger drafts 300c to 315c/kg, heavy weights reached $1110/head.

Heavy yearling steers sold to $1370 and the heifers $1100/head. Cow and calf units topped at $2000/unit with 6 week old calves at foot, the bulk ranging between $1500 and $1900/head
