Market Report – 15 November

Total Yarding: 1,906

Cattle numbers lifted and the quality was good. There was a good run of feeder yearlings but heavy weights were in short supply. Trade cattle were also limited. Prime heavy grown cattle were limited and heifers with weight were in demand. Around 360 cows were penned and sold to weaker demand.

Restockers paid up to 300c for weaner steers and feeders reached 312c/kg for backgrounding steers. Weaner heifers sold to 230c/kg. Medium weights feeder steer eased 5c on average, making from 263c to 308c/kg. Heavy feeders were limited, lifting 7c to reach 312c/kg. Medium weight feeder heifers eased 10c, but there was more breed variation through the sale, making from 216c to 268c/kg. The few heavy trade cattle sold from 260c to 300c/kg.

There were too few grown steers to quote a price trend and prices made from 270c and 275c/kg. Heavy grown heifers lifted 15c to make from 242c to 268c/kg. The medium weight 2 score cows were back 10c and sold from 168c to 212c, while the heavy 3 and 4 scores eased 4c to 7c to receive from 200c to 232c/kg. Prime heavy weights averaged 223c/kg.
