Special Weaner Sale – 18 March 2022

Total Yarding: 1,610

The first weaner/store sale for the year offered a very good quality run of weaner steers and a small run of heifers. Weight was one of the features of the sale with a large percentage over 280kg in weighty. The competition was extremely strong for the limited number of light to medium weight weaner heifers. The market trend was strong with only a few of the smaller 1 to 3 head pens pulling the average price back.

Light weaner steers under 200kg sold from $1060 to $1380/head. Medium weights ranged from $1720 to $2260/head and most averaged from 760c to 810c with Angus steers out to 893c/kg. Over 280kg steers $1750 to $2545/head and most averaged between 670c and 750c/kg lwt. Only 380 weaner heifers were penned and the medium weights sold to very strong competition ranging from $1770 to $1980/head and averaged 750c/kg. Heavy weights $1800 to $2240/head or 650c/kg for the bulk. Heavy yearling heifers topped at $2380/head.

There was a small run of cow and calf units and crossbred cows with calf started at $2000/unit and Limo cows with calf at foot reached $4300/unit.
