Market Report – 2 August

Total Yarding: 6166

Lamb numbers eased and the quality was plainer. There were a few well finished lambs but the majority were lacking finish. Light lambs and trades were well supplied while extra heavy lambs were in reduced numbers. Merino lambs were also back in volume. There was only a small offering of around 350 new season lambs. The market was dearer.

Light 2 score processing lambs sold from $88 to $117/head. The medium and heavy old trade lambs were $6 to $8 dearer and ranged from $114 to $136/head averaging 550c to 580c/kg.

Heavy lambs were $8 to $10 and sold from $134 to $153/head with the few heavy weights reaching $160/head. Carcase prices ranged from 520c to 540c/kg. The trade weights Merinos received $121/head. Heavy hoggets reached $127/head.

Mutton numbers were back and the quality was good for the weight. Merinos were best supplied and prices lifted. Medium weights sold from $86 to $104/head. Heavy crossbred ewes ranged between $110 and $135/head. Merino wethers reached $129/head. Carcase prices ranged from 410c to 430c/kg.
