Market Report – 21 March

Total Yarding: 9795

Lamb numbers lifted for a mixed quality yarding. Light 2 score lambs were well supplied while prime trade and heavy lambs were in short supply. Not all the usual buyers were operating in a cheaper market.

Light restocking lambs were $5 cheaper selling from $74 to $119/head. Medium and heavy trade weights eased $3 to $5 ranging from $115 to $140/head averaging 590c to 600c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs were firm on limited numbers and sold from $149 to $167/head or 580c to 590c/kg cwt. The best of the hoggets reached $160/head.

Mutton numbers were steady and quality was a little plainer. Prices eased $15 to $20/head on the heavy weights due to quality and less weight. Medium weight ewes sold from $78 to $115/head. Heavy crossbreds made from $135 to $141.60 and Merino wethers to $155/head. First cross ewes to restockers reached $172/head.
