Monthly Store Cattle

Total Yarding:  760

Numbers lifted and the quality was not as good as the previous store sale. There was nearly an even mix of weaners and yearling and almost 100 cow and calf units offered. The buying group were mostly local but some of the cattle went to the Forbes area. Prices were stronger lifting $250 to $300/head on the steers and $80 to $120/head on heifers, cow/calf units showed moderate increases.

Medium weight weaner steers sold from $380 to $960/head depending on breed and condition, heavy Angus weaners reached $1060/head and the bulk of the steers sold above 320c/kg on average. Medium weight heifers received $480 to $650/head and heavy weights topped at $750/head, most sold in the range of 190c to 240c/kg. The best price for heavy yearling steers was $1060/head and heavy Angus heifers reached $1000/head.

Angus heifers with first calf at foot reached $1590/unit with all of the heavy cow and calf units selling from $1150 to $1500/unit.
