Prime Lamb & Sheep

Lamb numbers were back and the quality was again mixed. There were lines of store lambs and trades that lacked cover along with trade and heavy lambs that were well finished and only a limited number of extra heavy weights. The market sold to a dearer trend.

Store lambs 16 to 18kg sold from $90 to $127/head. Trade weights to 24kg ranged from $161 to $180 and heavy lambs 24 to 26kg $185 to $214/head. Heavy weights to 30kg ranged from $185 to $214/head. most lambs averaged from 750c to 800c/kg cwt. Extra heavy lambs topped at $224/head. The better end of the hogget run sold from $136 to $158/head.

Mutton numbers fell and there were mostly light and medium weight Merinos penned. Prices for the light mutton was dearer with restockers stepping up and heavy weights were firm. Medium weight ewes sold from $50 to $88. Heavy Merinos reached $100 and Heavy crossbred wethers $147/head.
