Special Store Cattle & Weaner

Total Yarding:  1684

There was a drop in numbers and the quality was plainer in the weaner run than the dedicated weaner sale earlier in the month. There also were a few heavy yearling and a run of most light and plain cow and calf units. It was a two tier sale where the forward conditioned C muscle sold 60c to 100c stronger than the plainer D muscle in the steer run. Prices fell around $150/head on the better lines and $250 on the plainer steers. Heifers held up better and eased $150/head across most categories.

Light weaner steers sold from $110 to $700/head. Medium weights $580 to $1180 and heavy weights Angus reached $1340/head. The better presented averaged 400c to 440c while the plainer cattle 300c to 350c/kg. Light weaner heifers sold from $380 to $780 and heavy weights reached $1020/head. Most sold from 260c to 300c/kg.

Angus cows with their first calf at foot reached $2120/unit but most cow and calf units sold from $900 to $1300/unit. PTIC heifers ranged from $1275 to $1500/head.
