Market Report – 28 February 2019

Total Yarding: 1,943

Numbers increased for a good quality yarding. Weaner numbers improved and there was a large run of yearlings suited to feeder orders. Grown steers were reduced in volume and there were more grown heifers and cows. There were a few extra buyers operating in the market.

Weaner steers eased by 13c, selling from 190c to 270c, while the heifers were firm from 176c to 240c/kg. Feeder steers were steady with medium weights making from 240c to 274c, and heavy weights averaged 260c/kg. Heifers to feed eased from 3c to 5c, with the medium weights selling from 210c to 250c/kg. Heavy trade cattle also eased 4c, making from 230c to 268c/kg.

Bullocks decreased by 10c, to sell from 250c to 258c, while heavy grown heifers made from 200c to 235c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows eased by 18c and sold from 110c to 166c/kg. Heavy cows sold firm to slightly dearer with the extra competition, while the heavy 3 score cows eased by 6c/kg. Heavy cows sold from 160c to 202c, with the 4 scores averaging 193c/kg.
