Market Report – 28 July

Yarding: 987

Numbers were back this store sale with the reduction coming in the weaners and PTIC cows. Quality still remains good on the younger cattle but competition was soft as the season tightens. There was a large run of Hereford PTIC cows as a herd dispersal and a few pens of cow and calf units. The market sold to a cheaper trend.

Weaner steers were best supplied by medium weights which ranged from $550 to $895 with heavier weights reaching $950/head. On a c/kg rate, prices ranged from 290c to 335c/kg which saw a drop of $100 to $130/head. Medium weight weaner heifers ranged from $670 to $790 with heavy weights to $890/head. Most averaged 270c to 305c/kg. Yearling steers 12-14 months reached $1,235 and heifers $960/head.

PTIC heifers ranged between $1,350 and $1,525, and PTIC cows sold to $1,550/head. Cows with a young calf at foot topped at $1,800 while most of the older cows with a larger calf ranged from $1,400 to $1,750/unit.
