Market Report – 28 June 2024

Monthly Store Cattle

Total Yarding: 802

The monthly store sale offered 812 head with around 70 cow/calf units and a few PTIC cows. There were several larger drafts of weaners that sold to solid competition but the smaller lots and singles had little interest as most buyers were looking to put larger lines together. The quality was also plainer in the smaller pens. The market sold to softer trends than the last store sale.

Weaner steers, medium weight sold from $580 to $990/head averaging 335c/kg and heavy weights reached $1200/head. The smaller lots sold mainly between 240c and 270c/kg. The weaner heifers were also cheaper with Angus heifers weighing 323kg topping the heifers at $840/head. Most ranged from 200c to 260c/kg.

PTIC cows sold to $860 and Charolais cows with calf at foot reached $1840/unit. Most of the cow/calf units sold from $1020 to $1710/unit.
