Market Report – 28 March

Total Yarding:  7252

Lamb numbers eased slightly and the quality was mostly plain. Trade and heavy weights were limited and store lambs were best supplied. Not all the usual buyers were operating in a slightly cheaper market.

Light store lamb went against the trend lifting up to $5 selling to $114 and heavier trade weights reached $126/head. Trade lambs eased $2 and the medium and heavy weights sold from $113 to $138/head or 580c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs eased $4 and made from $140 to $168/head. The best of the hoggets reached $137/head.

Mutton numbers declined and quality was mostly plain. Prices eased $4 to $5/head. Medium weights sold from $75 to $114/head. Heavy crossbreds ranged from $130 to $157/head. Long skinned Merinos reached $160/head. Crossbred wethers topped at $168/head.
