Prime Cattle

Total Yarding: 1,144

Numbers increased for a total yarding of 1143 fair to good quality cattle. There were large numbers of yearlings, mostly suiting feedlot buyers, with a few good runs of well-finished types to suit the processors. There were some good pens of heavy grown cattle and 400 cows. All the usual buyers were operating, selling to a dearer market.

Yearlings to process were significantly dearer, selling from 230c to 342c/kg. Feeder steers were 15c better, ranging from 280c to 370c/kg and heifers to feed lifted 14c, reaching 310c/kg.

Heavy grown cattle were considerably dearer, steers selling from 240c to 330c, and heifers made from 245c to 319c/kg. Cows were up to 22c dearer, with 2 and 3 scores ranging from 170c to 242c, and heavy 4 score cows topped at 268c/kg. Heavy bulls jumped 8c, selling from 190c 242c/kg.
