Market Report – 4 April

Total Yarding:  17662

Lamb numbers increased and quality was mostly plain. Trade and heavy weight lambs were limited in supply while the light and store grades were in plenty of numbers. All the buyers were operating in a firm to slightly cheaper market.

Light lambs to the processors averaged $113 while store lambs sold from $95 to $120/head for the better lines. Medium and heavy trade weight lambs were firm to $3/head cheaper and averaged from 580c to 595c/kg cwt. Most of the quality heavy trade weight lambs sold from $135 to $150/head. Heavy weight lambs topped at $184/head.

Mutton numbers increased and quality was varied throughout. Medium Merino ewes averaged $101 or 415c while heavy Merino ewes averaged $143/head or 460c/kg cwt. Heavy first cross ewes averaged $121/head or 425c/kg cwt.
