Market Report – 6 April

Total Yarding:  3,634

Numbers were similar to the last weaner sale a few weeks ago. Most of the weaners were presented in good store condition and there was more weight throughout the sale. Solid competition came from southern buyers along with a few local Restockers. Steers were $60 to $70/head cheaper on average while heifers were steady.

Light weaner steers under 200kg sold to $650/head. Medium weights which were best supplied sold from $595 to $875 and steers 280-330kg reached $970/head. The few over 330/kg in weight that returned to the paddock reached $,1025 and the best price paid was $1,145/head for steers into a feedlot. Most of the steers averaged 290c to 320c/kg.

Almost 1500 heifers were penned and medium weights sold from $500 to $775 to average $625/head. Heavy weights sold to $760/head and most of the heifers averaged 250c to 270c/kg.
