Prime Cattle

Total Yarding: 675

Numbers decreased by 240, for a total yarding of 693 mixed quality cattle. There were some good lines of feeder steers and a few good pens of heavy trade cattle. There were some well-bred weaners returning to the paddock, along with some plainer types. Heavy grown cattle were limited and there was 122 cows, selling to a slightly softer market.

Light weight weaners to the restockers were mostly firm, with the steers selling from 300c to 402c and the heifer portion making from 280c to 364c/kg. Trade cattle were 6c cheaper, ranging from 260c to 330c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers up to 15c cheaper, topping at 380c and feeder heifers were down 10c, averaging 291c/kg.

Heavy grown cattle returned to prices of several sales ago, with the steers reaching 293c and the best heifer made 288c/kg. Heavy prime cows eased 20c, ranging from 252c to 272c/kg. Heavy bulls were a few cents dearer due to the improved quality, topping at 270c/kg.
