Market Report – Special Weaner Sale – 22 April 2022

Total Yarding: 4163

Numbers lifted with nearly 3000 weaner steers and 1200 heifers offered. The quality was good and there was an even spread of weight through the steer categories while medium weight heifers were best supplied. A large buying group followed the market and there was strong competition to the last pen. Market trends were firm to dearer with the exception of the heavy weaner steers which were slightly cheaper on average.

Light weaner steers under 200kg sold from $1450 to $1800/head and were dearer. The medium weights 200 to 280kg were fully firm $1750 to $2200/head. Heavy weights 280 to 330kg were back on average $20 to $30/head ranging from $1880 to $2340/head and a pen of 10 month old Angus steers averaging 463kg topped the steers reaching $2660/head.

Light weaner heifers ranged from $900 to $1400/head and on average medium weights lifted $100/head and sold from $1250 to $2060/head.

Heavy weights were firm to slightly dearer with heifers 280 to 330kg $1650 to $2400 and over 330kg top price reached $2405/head.
