Market Report – 13 April

Total Yarding: 4,244

Numbers rose by 610 on the last weaner sale. Most of the weaners were presented in good store condition and there was more weight throughout the sale. Strong competition came from Southern buyers, Queensland, Northern NSW along with a few local re-stockers.

Steers were $20 to $30/head cheaper on average while heifers were stronger, rising approx. $60/head on average.

Light weaner steers under 200kg sold to $635/head. Medium weights which were best supplied sold from $594 to $875 and steers 280-330kg reached $970/head. The few over 330/kg in weight that returned to the paddock reached $1,075 and the best price paid was $1,075/head for steers into a feedlot. Most of the steers averaged 290c to 316c/kg.

Almost 1600 heifers were penned, and medium weights sold from $495 to $728 to average $613/head. Heavy weights sold to $770/head and most of the heifers averaged 250c to 270c/kg.
