Prime Lamb & Sheep

Total Yarding: 7,688

Lamb numbers eased and the quality remains mixed with secondary, unfinished lambs making up the bulk. There were still a few pens of prime trade and heavy weights but quality slipped quickly. All the usual buyers were operating and the market lifted on the secondary lambs but eased on the prime trade and heavy lambs.

The 2 score processing lambs to 18kg cwt sold from $54 to $71/head. Trade weight lambs 20 to 24kg sold from $66 to $101/head and averaged between 360c and 380c/kg cwt, heavy lambs were back $5 selling from $97 to $112 and the 26 to 30kg lambs ranged between $98 and 130/head easing $2 on average or 420c/kg cwt on the better lambs. Extra heavy weights averaged $12 cheaper selling from $134 to $155/head. Best of the heavy hoggets reached $106/head.

Mutton numbers eased and the quality was mixed. Prices were firm to $5 dearer. Medium weight ewes $38 to $48/head. Heavy crossbreds $65 to $99 and heavy Merinos $82 to $95/head.
