Market Report – 22 March

Total Yarding:  1289

Cattle numbers lifted and the quality was planer in the young cattle. There were more light weights offered in 1 and 2 score condition. Heavy feeders were well supplied and grown steers were limited. Around 300 cows were offered to a full field of buyers.

Restocking weaners were 20c cheaper, mostly quality related and sold from 245c to 295c/kg. Trade vealers made from 252c to 274c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers were firm from 242c to 295c/kg. Heavy feeders sold to a dearer trend reaching 305c to average 290c/kg. Medium weight feeder heifers eased 5c from 248c to 268c/kg. Heavy weights lifted 4c to make from 245c to 265c/kg. Trade steers lifted 7c selling from 240c to 286c/kg.

Growing steers eased 5c to sell from 248c to 264c/kg. On average cows were firm for the heavy weights which sold from 172c to 208c to average 199c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows lifted 5c to make from 158c to 189c/kg.
