Market Report – 24 July 2019

Total Yarding: 13,121

There was an increase in lamb numbers and there was a large run of Merino lambs. The quality was mixed and there were not the runs of fresh lambs of the last sale but there were some very good lambs coming of crops and feed. Not all the usual buyers were operating in a cheaper market easing $15 on average but the better lambs were only $5/head softer.

The few new season trade lambs ranged from $195 to $236/head. Medium and heavy old trade weight crossbred lambs sold from $155 to $200/head. Heavy lambs $215 to $260 and extra heavy lambs reached $281/head. Carcase prices averaged from 850c to 940c/kg cwt for the neater lambs. Merino trades sold from $140 to $189 and heavy weights reached $252/head averaged from 800c to 820c/kg cwt. Hoggets reached $228/head.

Sheep numbers lifted and prices were similar. Medium weight Merino ewes sold from $110 to $166/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $162 to $249 and heavy Merino ewes sold to $222/head and averaged 590c to 660c/kg cwt on the heavier weights.
