Prime Cattle

Total Yarding: 396

Numbers fell due to the long weekend and the quality was mixed. There were a few weaners and yearlings, feeders and restockers were the force with processors very selective on the younger cattle. There was a mixed run of grown steers and heifers with a lot of breed and age variations. Around 75 cows were penned for a smaller processing group and larger restocking buying group. The market sold to firm to dearer trend with the exception of the medium weight 2 score cows.

Weaner heifers sold 25c stronger reaching 349c with the best of the steers reached 370c/kg. Feeder steers gained 15c and the medium weights reached 346c and heavy weights 328c/kg. Medium weight heifers to feed lifted 17c selling from 270c to 298c and there was a strong restocking order for this weight and prices ranged from 300c to 307c/kg.

Prime grown steers to process were firm 275c to 291c and the grown heifers were similar, 232c to 283c/kg. The leaner 2 score cows dropped 30c ranging from 200c to 240c/kg and the prime heavy weights were 6c to 7c stronger ranging from 250c to 279c/kg with Euro infused cows selling to 281c/kg.
