Market Report – 26 April

Total Yarding: 1,228

Numbers eased for a mixed quality yarding. Yearlings were well supplied and there was an increase in weaners. Grown steers were limited and there were mostly light grown heifers. Cows numbered 329 head. All the usual buyers operated in a dearer market.

Weaners lifted 20c/kg but the quality was better this week. Steers sold from 249c to 270c and heifers 200c to 260c/kg. Vealers to the trade made from 264c to 280c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers gained 13c and heavy feeders improved 20c with most selling between 240c to 290c/kg. Heifers to restock and feed lifted 30c with an extra order in place to average 260c/kg. Heavy trade steers averaged 275c and heifers averaged 279c/kg.

Prime grown steers and bullocks over 500kg sold from 240c to 278c while the better shaped heifers made from 240c to 255c/kg. Most of the cows were firm to 3c stronger with the 2 score medium weights made from 125c to 175c/kg. The heavy 3 and 4 scores sold from 156c to 195c with C muscles reaching 209c to average 185c/kg.
