Market Report – 26 March 2020

Total Yarding: 1,066

Cattle numbers were steady and the quality was back a little with more variety in breeds. Most of the young cattle sold to feeder orders and there were only a few prime heavy trade steers and heifers. Grown steers were also limited to processors and around 300 cows were penned. Not all the usual feeder orders were operating and the market sold to a softer trend with the exception of the weaners to restocking orders which remained firm.

Weaner steers sold to 456c and heifers made to 362c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers made from 300c to 412c and heifers sold to 390c/kg. Most of the heavy feeder steers made from 350c to 375c and heifers reached 370c/kg. The few prime trade steers reached 3865c and heifers made to 350c/kg.

Grown steers topped at 385c/kg. Restocking cows sold from 248c to 278c/kg. The better medium weight cows sold from 260c to 280c and heavy weights made from 274c to 288c/kg. The best priced heavy bull reached 290c/kg.
