Special Feeder & Store Cattle

Total Yarding:  1,500

In this month special combined feeder/store sale there were just over 1500/head. There were several nice runs of fresh weaners and a few larger drafts of yearlings. The market was cheaper than the last store sale which was to be expected on market trends.

Angus weaners were best supplied and the medium weights to 280kg sold from $260 for plain D1 scores to $600/head for the better shaped and fresher cattle. The few heavy weights reached $665/head. most of the weaners with some shape averaged from 180c to 235c/kg. Weaner heifers most ranged from $300 to $450 and heavier weights reached $480/head averaging 160c to 190c/kg on the fresh lines. Yearling steers back to the paddock sold from $500 to $730/head averaging 215c and the mostly heavier feeder steers $610 to $920/head or 185c/kg on average. Yearling heifers sold from $380 to $670/head or 135c to 160c/kg.

Plain cow and calf units started at $560 and Angus cows with their second calf at foot topped the market at $980/unit.
