Market Report – 30 August

Total Yarding: 651

Numbers improved and the quality was similar with good runs of weaner steers and heifers. Feeder steers were limited and there was a good run of medium weights trade cattle. No heavy grown steers and heifers were penned and close to 110 cows were yarded. Light young cattle sold to dearer rates.

Weaner steers sold 25c to 30c dearer ranging from 230c to 280c/kg. Heifers made 180c to 216c/kg. No heavy feeder steers were penned and medium weights were firm while light feeders gained 15c and received 255c to 261c/kg. Medium and heavy heifers to feed were firm at 170c to 230c/kg. Trade steers made 240c to 280c/kg and heifers reached 265c/kg.

The better covered grown heifers sold between 181c and 230c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows jumped 25c and sold from 160c to 180c/kg. Heavy 3 and 4 score cows 172c to 215c lifted 10c/kg. Prime heavy weights averaged 208c/kg.
