Market Report – 7 June

Total Yarding: 1370

Cattle numbers declined for a mixed quality yarding. Lighter young cattle were better supplied while the big drafts of feeder steers and heifers were not around this week. Restockers and feeders purchased most of the young cattle. Grown steers and heifers were back in numbers and around 530 mixed cows were offered.

Young calves under 200kg sold dearer to restockers with steers reaching 265c/kg. Heavy trade vealers sold between 250c and 270c/kg. Lighter feeder steers sold 10c easier and sold from 230c to 278c/kg. Medium and heavy weights were around 6c easier with the exception of a few which were from a large line of forward conditioned feeders. Prices ranged from 210c to 300.6c/kg. Feeder heifers were dearer by 8c to 9c selling from 220c to 272c/kg. Trade cattle were firm 265c to 280c/kg.

Grown steers were back 6c but there were more full mouth steers offered and sold from 168c to 262c/kg. Most cows were between 6c and 11c/kg cheaper. Medium weights sold from 110c to 162c/kg. Heavy 3 and 4 score cows 150c to 192c with the prime heavy weights averaging 287c/kg.
