Prime Lamb & Sheep

Lamb numbers eased and the quality remains mixed. There were only limited numbers of ideal trade and heavy lambs and plenty of light or trades lacking condition. Not all the usual buyers were operating and the market lifted.

The 2 score processing lambs to 18kg cwt were $4 dearer and ranged from $26 to $80/head. trade lambs sold $7 to $10 better on both the secondary and prime lambs with the 20 to 22kg lambs selling from $88 to $111 and the 22 to 24kg lambs, $74 for long skin and seed contaminated to $119/head, better lambs averaged 470c/kg. The bulk of the heavy lambs 24 to 26kg sold from $116 to $125/head and the 26 to 30kg lambs $115 to $136/head averaging 440c to 470c/kg cwt. Best for heavy hoggets reached $130/head.

Mutton numbers eased and the quality was mixed. Prices lifted around $4 to $6/head on the medium and heavy weights. Medium weight ewes sold from $36 to $65 and heavy crossbred ewes $75 to $113/head. best for Merino ewes was $104/head.
